A dedication that has awarded Tom many U.S. patents for various unique inventions -Including he WON THE INNOVATOR OF THE YEAR 2000 AWARD sponsored by the Journal Record (see picture of Tom with GOVERNOR Frank Keating) Some of his inventions , you may have seen, used or even owned. Tom's newest invention Injector2 Termite elimination system is a revolutionary way of safely controlling Termites and toxic vapors for homes and buildings. Tom holds the design patents on the nations first Modular Pipe Furniture (AWARD WINNING) He also invented a very unique 8-Track Stereo Tape Display Case which became The national standard for retailers selling 8-Track tapes. The tapes were behind a wire or Plexiglas door with a hole big enough for a person to get their hand in to view the tape but not large enough for them to remove the tape thus eliminating theft. Tom also developed, sponsored and hosted the first National Insulation Convention ever held in America. At the time, his company trained more homebuilders, insulation contractors, and utility company personnel in the energy conservation market than anybody in US. But the most interesting thing about Tom's history is how he became a home builder. Tom got into the home building business strictly by coincidence. Tom, his wife Dee and their two daughters had been looking for a new home for over a year. Dee was looking for a beautiful home with quality features while Tom, being an energy conservation expert, not only was looking for a beautiful home with quality features but also a home that was well-built and super energy efficient. But both, Tom and Dee, were concerned that their new home have a healthy environment, due to the fact that Dee suffered from arthritis and one of their daughters has severe asthma and breathing problems. In fact their daughter's condition was so severe doctors told them they might not ever be able to have carpet, drapes or anything in their home that could contribute to her breathing problems. So Tom and Dee looked at dozens and dozens of homes, but it was to no avail. One dusty evening their daughter began having trouble catching her breath inside the house. It immediately escalated to a life threatening situation so they rushed her to the hospital Emergency Room. She was placed on oxygen and Tom and Dee had to watch their child struggle to catch every breath. Tom was devastated that the home he provided for his family was hurting his little girl. While in the Emergency Room, Tom vowed that he would have a healthy environment for his family even if he had to build his own home. He began to learn everything he could about improving their environment. He joined the Indoor Air Quality Association, traveled all across America attending conventions, lectures, and personally talking with the American Lung Association and other leading experts about air filtration, outgasing, humidity, air infiltration and all the many facets that was necessary to make a home environment healthy. After learning many new techniques, Tom started to build their new home. He took into account his wife's arthritis and his daughter's breathing problems and designed a beautiful, energy efficient home with a very unique environment. Their home incorporated an indoor, heated, swimming pool, which they maintain with non-toxic odorless chemicals, in a room that Tom specifically designed and engineered to eliminate humidity for his wife. The design also included many healthy features, some of which Tom developed, that would improve the overall air quality for his daughter. While building their home, Tom had another opportunity to build a second home close by. Tom shortly sold his second home before it was completed. Tom then built a few more, then a few more then a lot more and soon Tom found himself in the middle of the home building business. Today Tom and Dee's daughter is able to breath easy in their home. Her problem, in fact, is almost nonexistent. Several of their daughter's girlfriends, who have spent the night found it so much easier to breath there, that on one particular occasion when they had to return to their homes they sadly broke down and cried, not wanting to leave. Tom had now built hundreds of homes from Norman to Edmond and even began two TV shows (Healthy Builders and Healthy Home) that has become Oklahoma’s Longest Running Home Shows.
